Academic policies at Arkansas
Graduating with honors
Arkansas restricts cum laude, magna cum laude, and summa cum laude to Honors College members — non-Honors College graduates do not receive Latin honors regardless of GPA. Each college's honors program sets its own combination of GPA, a minimum of 12 honors credit hours, and an honors thesis, so there is no single university-wide cutoff. Check your college's honors program for its figures.
Dean's List
Arkansas requires a term GPA of at least 3.75. A GPA of 3.75 to 4.00 across at least 12 semester hours on a standard letter-grade basis earns the Dean's List; a 4.00 earns the separate Chancellor's List.
Good academic standing
You need a cumulative GPA of at least 2.00 to stay in good academic standing. You are placed on probation if your cumulative GPA drops below 2.0. While on probation you must post a semester GPA of at least 1.8 with 4 to 30 hours attempted, or 2.0 above 30 hours, and you are removed once your cumulative GPA reaches 2.0 again.
Repeating a course
Arkansas's Grade Exclusion Policy lets undergraduates request that up to 9 credit hours of courses graded D or F be excluded from their cumulative GPA.
