FSU requires a term GPA of at least 3.50. You need a term GPA of at least 3.5 while registered for 12 or more letter-graded credit hours that term.
Good academic standing
You need a cumulative GPA of at least 2.00 to stay in good academic standing. A cumulative FSU GPA below 2.0 places you on Academic Probation for your next term. If your term GPA that semester is 2.5 or higher but your cumulative GPA is still under 2.0, you move to Academic Probation Continued rather than being dismissed. A term GPA below 2.5 while on probation, without recovering to a 2.0 cumulative, means dismissal.
Repeating a course
FSU eliminated grade forgiveness effective Fall 2004, so repeating a course does not remove the original grade from your GPA. Both attempts count in your cumulative GPA, though you earn credit toward graduation only once.
Pass/fail grades and your GPA
S/U grades count toward total and upper-division credit hours but are excluded from your GPA. Except in your first term you need at least a 2.5 FSU GPA to use the option, capped at one elective per term and 18 S/U hours as an undergraduate. Only electives outside your major, minor, and core curriculum are eligible.
