Academic policies at Colorado State
Graduating with honors
CSU calls this Graduation with Distinction, and each of its eight colleges sets its own cum laude, magna, and summa cutoffs rather than using one university-wide number — see the table below. You need at least 60 credits completed at CSU, and transfer credits do not count toward eligibility. The cutoffs are reviewed every four years and were last set for graduates from Spring 2024 onward.

CSU sets no university-wide Dean's List GPA — each college publishes its own qualifications, so check with yours.
Good academic standing
You need a cumulative GPA of at least 2.00 to stay in good academic standing. You need a cumulative CSU GPA of at least 2.000 to stay in good standing and to graduate. Falling below starts a two-semester process — an academic watch semester followed by an academic dismissal warning semester — and you return to good standing as soon as your GPA is back at 2.000.
Repeating a course
CSU's Repeat/Repair policy lets undergraduates replace a grade the first time they repeat a course, with the new grade counting instead of the original even if it is lower. You can use it on up to 12 credit hours across no more than 3 courses, and only on the first repeat of any given course.
Pass/fail grades and your GPA
You can take one course per term as Student Option Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory if your cumulative CSU GPA is 2.000 or higher and your advisor signs off. It cannot be used for major, minor, licensure, or All-University Core requirements, and an S/U grade cannot later be converted back to a letter grade to help your GPA.

University Honors Scholar
Separate from Latin honors: complete the University Honors Program's academic requirements and finish with at least a 3.500 cumulative GPA, and you graduate as a University Honors Scholar, noted on both diploma and transcript.
