Good academic standing
You need a cumulative GPA of at least 2.00 to stay in good academic standing. First-time-in-college students who fall below a 2.00 in their first long term get an academic warning. A cumulative GPA under 2.00 after that means academic probation, and a term GPA under 2.00 while on probation leads to suspension.
Repeating a course
UH's First-year Grade Exclusion Policy lets you exclude a D+ or lower earned within your first 12 months at UH, provided you repeat the course at UH within 12 months of the original grade. It covers up to 3 courses, only one of which may be at the 3000 level, and 4000- and 5000-level courses do not qualify. The original grade stays on your transcript with an exclusion notation.
