Berkeley calls these Distinction in General Scholarship rather than Latin honors. The GPAs shown are the College of Letters and Science figures in effect for Fall 2025, Spring 2026, and Summer 2026 — they are reset each year from the graduating cohort, so treat them as a moving target. You also need at least 50 units at UC Berkeley, at least 43 of them letter-graded, and at least 30 completed in residence.

Dean's List

Berkeley's Dean's Honors List is percentile-based, not a fixed GPA: you need a semester GPA in the top 10% of L&S undergraduates across 13 or more letter-graded units, with no I, NR, or NP grades that term.

Pass/fail grades and your GPA

Passed and Not Passed grades carry no grade points and are excluded from all grade-point computations, so a P cannot raise or lower your GPA.

A+ is worth 4.0, same as an A

Berkeley's catalog sets A = 4, B = 3, C = 2, D = 1, F = none, with plus and minus modifiers shifting a grade by 0.3 — except the A+, which carries 4.0 grade points per unit just like the A.
