How Five Crowns scoring works
Five Crowns is played over eleven rounds. Each round, players try to arrange their whole hand into books (three or more cards of the same rank) and runs (three or more cards in sequence in one suit). The first player who can do it, with one card left to discard, goes out. Everyone else gets one final turn, lays down what they can, and scores the cards still in their hand:
| Card left in hand | Points |
|---|---|
| 3 to 10 | Face value |
| Jack / Queen / King | 11 / 12 / 13 |
| Wild card of the round | 20 |
| Joker | 50 |
The player who went out scores 0. Totals carry across all eleven rounds and the lowest total wins.
Rounds and wild cards
| Round | Cards dealt | Wild |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 3 | 3s (and Jokers) |
| 2 | 4 | 4s (and Jokers) |
| 3 | 5 | 5s (and Jokers) |
| 4 | 6 | 6s (and Jokers) |
| 5 | 7 | 7s (and Jokers) |
| 6 | 8 | 8s (and Jokers) |
| 7 | 9 | 9s (and Jokers) |
| 8 | 10 | 10s (and Jokers) |
| 9 | 11 | Jacks (and Jokers) |
| 10 | 12 | Queens (and Jokers) |
| 11 | 13 | Kings (and Jokers) |
The wild rank moves up every round, which is the easiest thing to lose track of mid-game. Each row of the score sheet carries its wild card, and the highlighted row is the round you are on.
A worked example round
It is round 4, so everyone has 6 cards and 6s are wild. Maya goes out. On their last turns the others lay down what they can, then count up:
- Maya went out: 0.
- Leo is left with a King and a 4: 13 + 4 = 17.
- Priya is stuck with a Joker, a 6 and an 8. The 6 is wild this round, so it costs 20: 50 + 20 + 8 = 78.
A single Joker costs more than most whole hands, which is why holding wilds late in a round is risky. Type each number in the round 4 row and the totals and leader update straight away.
Using the sheet at the table
Add your players in seating order and turn on the dealer indicator if you want the sheet to say whose deal it is; the deal passes to the next player each round. Press Enter after each score to jump to the next box. If you mistype, tap any earlier box to fix it, or use Undo. Scores save in your browser as you go, and finished games land in Recent games, so you can see who won last week. Prefer paper? Print blank score sheet gives you the eleven labelled rows with the card values printed at the top.

Frequently asked questions
How many rounds are in Five Crowns?
Eleven. The first round deals 3 cards to each player and the last deals 13. The score sheet above has one row for each, labelled with the number of cards and the wild card.
What is wild in each round of Five Crowns?
The rank that matches the number of cards dealt: 3s are wild when you are dealt 3 cards, 4s with 4 cards, and so on up to 10s, then Jacks (11 cards), Queens (12) and Kings (13). Jokers are wild in every round.
How much are cards worth in Five Crowns?
Number cards count their face value, Jacks 11, Queens 12 and Kings 13. A wild card of the round left in your hand costs 20 points and a Joker 50. Going out scores 0.
Does the high or low score win in Five Crowns?
Low. After the Kings round, the player with the lowest total wins.
What happens after someone goes out?
Every other player gets one last turn. They can lay down any books and runs they can make on that turn, then score whatever cards are still in their hand.
What if two players tie in Five Crowns?
The basic rules don't set a tie-breaker, so the sheet shows a shared win. Some groups settle it with one extra hand; that is a house rule.
