Setting up a game
Open Players & settingsand type each player's name. Order matters only if you use the dealer indicator: the deal passes down the list one player per round, so enter people in the order they sit. Then pick the three settings that describe your game:
- Who wins? Highest score for games where points are good (Rummy 500, dice games, trivia nights). Lowest score for games where points are penalties (Hearts, Golf, most rummy variants that count the cards left in your hand).
- Play to. Optional. Many games end when someone reaches a total, such as 500 or 100. The game ends after the first round that is fully scored with somebody at or past the target, so everyone finishes the round before the winner is called.
- Number of rounds. Optional. Set it for games with a fixed length, and the sheet creates exactly that many rows and ends the game when the last one is scored. Leave it blank and a new row appears each time a round is filled in.
You can use both: a game to 500 that also stops after 10 rounds ends at whichever comes first.
Keeping score during the game
Type a score and press Enter to jump to the next player, then on to the next round. The highlighted row is the round in progress, the Total row stays visible at the bottom of the sheet however long the game runs, and the star marks the leader. Tap a row's name to rename it, for example to note which mini-game or hand it was. Mistakes are easy to fix: tap any earlier box and change it, or press Undo to step back through your recent changes.
A worked example
Three friends play a card game to 100, lowest score wins once someone passes 100. After four rounds the totals are Ali 62, Bea 88 and Cal 71. In round five Ali takes 15, Bea 14 and Cal 20. Bea is now on 102, so the game ends with that round, and Ali wins with 77. If Ali and Cal had finished level, the banner would show a shared win rather than picking one at random.
Ties, teams and negative scores
Ties for the lead or the win are always shown as ties; settle them however your group likes. For partnership games, add each team as one player. Negative scores are allowed: select a box and tap ±. That covers games with penalties, bids that fail, or bonuses that subtract.
Saving, history and printing
The game saves in this browser after every change. New game clears the scores but keeps the players and settings, ready for a rematch. The last ten finished games are listed under Recent games with the date and final scores. Print blank score sheet gives you a clean paper grid with a column per player, and Print this game prints the scores so far.
Playing a specific game? The Phase 10, Five Crowns, Golf and Mexican Trainsheets come set up with that game's rounds and rules, and the Game Night page lists every scorekeeper.
Frequently asked questions
Is this score keeper free?
Yes, completely, with no sign-up and no app to install. It runs in your browser and saves the game on your device.
How many players can I add?
From 1 to 12. Use the arrows in setup to put players in seating order, which also sets the dealer rotation. For team games, enter each team as a single player.
Can I keep score where the lowest score wins?
Yes. Set Who wins? to Lowest score. The leader star, the banner and the final result all follow that setting.
How does the target score work?
Enter a number in Play to, such as 500. When a round is fully scored and at least one player has reached it, the game ends and the winner is shown. With high score wins that is the highest total; with low score wins, the lowest.
Can I enter negative scores?
Yes. Tap ± while a box is selected to flip its sign, or type the minus sign on a keyboard.
What happens if I close the page in the middle of a game?
Nothing is lost. Every change is saved in this browser, so the game is still there when you come back. Starting a new game keeps the player names and clears the scores, and finished games are listed under Recent games.
Is there a score sheet for my specific game?
There are dedicated sheets for several games with their own round labels and rules, including Phase 10, Five Crowns, Golf and Mexican Train. The Game Night page lists them all.
